Avalon Slot Review
Bursting onto the medieval scene from Microgaming is Avalon, the game of kings, knights and enchantresses. While you’re backed by a very apt soundtrack that induces memories of late 80s adventure films, you’ll find reels featuring icons of a bejewelled crown, a treasure chest, a silver chalice, a female sword-holder and a mythical castle, amongst other things.
You’ll find 20 available paylines on the game, which can be customised for those players wishing to wager on fewer. Meanwhile, the layout is designed with five reels and three rows, and the coin value is able to be altered between £0.01 and £0.50. Furthermore, you can select the amount of coins you wish to wager, a value that lies between one and 10, therefore allowing an overall maximum wager of £100 per spin.
As well as the standard gameplay, Avalon has one or two special additions to make things more exciting. First of all, you’ll find a wild symbol in the shape of the Avalon castle, which will substitute for all other symbols on the reels, except the scatter.
The scatter is provided via the lady of the lake, and three or more of these symbols appearing during the main game will activate the freespins round. A total of 12 freespins will be provided, with a multiplier of up to seven times activated as well. During freespins, the golden treasure chest acts as an extra wild symbol, and works in the same way as the Avalon castle.
Further to this, after every winning combination achieved in the main game, players get the opportunity to gamble. This provides you with a face down playing card, and your job is to guess either the suit or the colour of the card, with a correct colour guess doubling your winnings and a correct suit guess quadrupling it.
