There are fruits of various shapes and sizes, such as the customary plums, watermelons, oranges, lemons, cherries and grapes. In addition, you will also come across two other very typical symbols: the golden bell and the lucky number 7. The graphics aren’t too great, but since this game has more of a retro theme – they work.
The layout provides 3 rows of 5 reels and a total of 10 paylines. You can adjust those in the Menu of the game, if you like. Bet amounts range from a humble 10p per spin up to £100 per spin. It has a theoretical RTP of most Novomatic games of 95.54%.
Special Features
The other very typical symbol for old-modern slot machines is the golden star. In this game, it acts as the Wild symbol, but with a bit of a twist to it. With that in mind, the Star can substitute for any of the other symbols on the reels, without any exceptions. This way it can create winning combinations, where certain symbols of the same kind are missing.
In addition, though, the Power Stars Wild symbol also has the capacity of expanding to fill the whole reel it’s on. Keep in mind, however, that you can only see the Wild on the middle reels 2, 3 and 4. In addition, when the Wild expands on the reel it’s on, it then sticks in place and triggers a respin. As a result, you can end up gaining up to 3 respins at a time. So, in that sense, this isn’t quite the traditional slot machine you might have been expecting.
There’s yet another very typical Novomatic feature in this game and that’s the Gamble option. Every time you land a winning sequence on the reels, you will have the opportunity of doubling it. All you have to do is click on Gamble directly after you spin the winning combination. This will provide you with a neat little side game. A new screen will display a deck of cards and your aim will be to guess the correct color of the top card. You have a 50/50 chance of succeeding, whereas a correct guess will multiply your winnings by 2. As for a wrong guess – you will then lose your wins and the game will end.
Summary
Power Stars makes for a fairly satisfying game, despite not really measuring up to the expectations one might have for a slot by this provider. On the other hand, if you’re a fan of vintage games, you might be very happy with it. All in all, there’s a semi-decent special feature that occurs rather often and an entertaining side game.
