Ghostbusters Slot Review
Ghostbusters is a 1984 American supernatural comedy film in its original format, and it stars Bill Murray, Dan Ackroyd, Harold Ramis and Ernie Hudson as the four main title characters. The film became a critical and commercial success, and it launched a media franchise which included a 1989 sequel, two animated television series, several video games, and, more recently, a reboot featuring an all-female Ghostbusting team. In celebration of the much-loved original film, IGT created an online video slot about it as well. The reels feature icons of all four members of the squad – Peter Venkman, Raymond Stantz, Egon Spengler and Winston Zeddermore – as well as various tools and weaponry used by the team, their automobile and an icon of Rick Moranis as Louis Tully.
The iconic Ghostbusters theme tune plays along as you spin the five reel and three row game, which has also had a total of 30 lines included in its interface. Players cannot alter this around in any way, but they do have the chance to change their wager amount per spin. This is done with the coin value buttons, and this begins from its minimum level of £1 and increases up to a height of £5, thereby presenting gamers with the possibility of placing a maximum overall bet of £250 per spin.
There are two wild icons included in this game, which are represented by the green ghost, Slimer, and the villain from the second film, Vigo the Carpathian. These will stand in for any other symbol on the reels in order to make a winning combination, except for bonus symbols.
Any of the mystery features included in this game – Multiplier, Cash Award, Wild Reels or Extra Wilds, can be activated after any base reel spin, except for outcomes which trigger a bonus round.
As far as the bonus icons are concerned, these are represented by various different ghosts. Should you spin two white logo ghosts and an icon of Slimer, this will activate the ‘Ballroom Busters Bonus’ feature. In this bonus feature you use your proton shots to find any of the six ghosts that are hiddend in the ballroom.
If you spin two logo ghosts and the marshmallow man, you’ll activate the ‘Stay Puft Freespins’ feature. This round gives you eight freespins, which are played on 40 pay lines, and after any freespin, marshmallows can land on one or more reels, turning them into sticky wilds.
Tackling the idea of turning a film into a video slot game isn’t an easy one, but IGT have managed to do it successfully, presenting a wonderful and entertaining game based on it.
